Michael Cutter's experience and insight give him the perspective to evaluate or provide creative, yet practical, guidance in creating strategy or avoiding costly pitfalls that befall new and rebuilding companies.

Previously, Michael rose through the operations and merchandising organizations of 7-Eleven Stores to Senior Vice President, Merchandising. Reporting directly to the President, he played a key role in globalizing the organization and achieved 13 consecutive quarters of same stores sales growth and 16 consecutive quarters of positive gross profit dollar growth.

He is an intensely focused yet personable executive who consistently meets aggressive growth goals in fast-paced, competitive markets. He blends a positive, optimistic outlook with realistic, ethical, process-based business leadership. Michael is renowned as excellent listener, win-win negotiator, and informal leader. His attention to meeting the needs of customers, diplomatically and with humour, and his cultural sensitivity help bridge communication among people of different nations and cultures.

Utilizing his capabilities in the areas of Marketing & Business Strategy, Growth & High Performance Teams and Relationship Building, he is a proven executive. Some of his accomplishments include:

  • Leading the Greenfield creation, in just four years, of a worldwide distribution network of technical plant nutrient products in over 25 countries (outside of North America) with major focus in China. The team will generate sales valued of over $40mm in 2013.
  • Leading strategy formulation assisting a major Canadian Nutrient manufacturer to integrate three disparate small competitors into an industry leader; transforming sales/marketing approach from commodity to new product innovation based on value proposition;
  • Executing a dramatic turnaround for the largest tile distributor in Great Britain;
  • Designing and launching a Frozen Pastry subsidiary for a Swiss bakery in the USA;
  • Crafting and mentoring the strategic plan for converting Yugoslavian State Owned grocery stores into an entrepreneurial stand-alone chain.

He is a proven, energetic executive whether executing a dramatic turnaround for the largest tile distributor in Great Britain or designing and launching a Frozen Pastry subsidiary for a Swiss bakery; crafting and mentoring the strategic plan for converting the Yugoslavian State Owned grocery stores into an entrepreneurial standalone chain, assisting a major Canadian Nutrient manufacturer to integrate three disparate small competitors into the industry leader or successfully navigating the intricate maze of government and private enterprise hurdles necessary to sell successfully in China.

Michael has served as an executive management board member of The Southland Corporation (7-Eleven), Hiestand USA, Bellegrove Ceramics and Agrium Advanced Technologies. Not-for-profit board roles include the Hill School of Fort Worth, Girl Scouts, University Camps for Underprivileged and Diabetic Children at UCLA, and the United States Olympic Velodrome in Dominguez Hills, California. Michael is also a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). He holds a BS from the UCLA, where he was recognized for outstanding service to the University.
